Dynamos’ title hopes fade after draw with Bulawayo Chiefs

Dynamos’ hopes of challenging for the premiership title this season were dealt another blow when the once fierce football club were held to a goalless draw by Bulawayo Chiefs in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match Day 20 clash played at Rufaro stadium Sunday.

The result was disappointing to the Dembare faithful who have seen their beloved team fall 12 points behind league leaders Scottland who have garnered 43 points in 20 games played so far.

A 48th minute full blooded effort from a setpiece just outside the penalty box by Moses Demera was brilliantly tipped over the bar by Simbarashe Verenga, in goals for Bulawayo Chiefs.

The shot was the first effort on target for both teams.

Dynamos are now positioned number 7 on the league table with 31 points to their name.

In another match played at Wadzanayi stadium, AGAMA frustrated Herentals College by beating them 1-0.

In matches played Saturday, troubled Bulawayo giants Highlanders plucked up a vital 2-1 victory against MWOS at Ngoni stadium in Norton.

The result belied the discord over unpaid wages at Bosso which has seen players failing to report for training for three consecutive weeks.

Hardrock beat Chicken Inn by 2-0 to maintain pressure on Scottland who are five points clear of them, with 43 points from 20 games.

However, Hardrock have a game in hand – their abandoned match against Dynamos, the outcome to which is yet to be decided by the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Caps United laboured to a 2-all draw against log anchors Triangle United at Rufaro stadium to cast further doubt on their credentials to challenge for the league title.

Elsewhere, TelOne upstaged former champions Simba Bhora by 2-1 at Wadzanayi stadium in a surprise result of the day.

ZPC Kariba forced Ngezi Platinum Stars to a 1-all draw at Nyamhunga stadium whilst FC Platinum and FC Hunters fought out a similar 1-all stalemate at Mandava stadium in Zvishavane.

Friday saw Scottland rampage to a 5-0 victory over Manica Diamonds at Rufaro stadium.
