Man gets two life sentences over 2 lovers’ brutal murder
Convict jabbed lover several times on the neck with metal file, called victim's sister to collect her dead body from scene.

A Chipinge man has been slapped with two life imprisonment sentences by a Mutare judge who found him guilty of cruel murder on his two girlfriends.
Confirming the case, police spokesperson for the Criminal Investigation Department Detective Inspector Rachael Muteweri identified the convict as Felix Siyatunya, aged 37.
“In one of the cases that occurred on 18 December 2025, the criminal had a misunderstanding with the victim, then his girlfriend, over allegations of infidelity,” Muteweri said.
“During the altercation, he repeatedly struck the victim on the head with a log before using the pointed end of a metal file to stab her several times on the head and neck.
“The victim succumbed to the injuries sustained.”
The convict went on to wrap the victim’s body in a blanket, left it in his rented apartment and fled.
The victim’s body was later discovered by her sister after the convict called her and instructed her to check his room.
On 3 January 2026, detectives received information on his whereabouts, leading to his arrest in Mutare.
“Further investigations revealed that Siyatunya was also wanted for a murder case committed on 27 September 2023 at Checheche Growth Point in Chipinge,” said Muteweri.
“In a similar fashion, Siyatunya assaulted his then girlfriend to death over infidelity accusations.
“He went on to cover the victim’s body with a blanket, locked the room from outside, placed the key under the door mat and disappeared into the night before calling his landlord who then discovered the victim’s body before filing a police report.”
Following his arrest on 3 January 2026, Siyatunya appeared was on 2 June this year sentenced to life imprisonment by Mutare High Court judge, Justice Isaac Muzenda who also handed him a similar sentence a week after for his second murder offence.
Meanwhile, one Abiola Mangena (29) was on 13 June 2026 sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Bulawayo Regional Court for robbery.
Presiding over trial, magistrate Shingirai Mathew Mutiro heard that on 11 June 2026 at around 7.30pm, Mangena pounced at a shop in the city where he pointed a pellet gun at his female victim.
“As she attempted to retreat, the convict grabbed a cash box and fled from the scene,” said Muteweri.
But the victim then shouted for help prompting members of the public to give chase leading to his arrest and recovery of the pellet gun.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police continue to applaud members of the public for their concerted effort in the fight against crime,” said Muteweri, adding that such collective efforts remain vital in ensuring the safety and security of communities throughout the country.
