Man jailed 75 years for sex attacks on 4 boys and a girl
Sentence set to increase after another 6-year-old claims rape by convict

A 31-year-old Kwekwe man has been handed a lengthy 75-year term by a local court after he was convicted for aggravated indecent assault on 4 minor boys and a rape incident on a girl.
Rangarirai Blessing Mutangi of Mbizo high density suburb in Kwekwe preyed on his victims during the period extending from December 2025 to April 2026, according to police spokesperson for Midlands Province Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.
All the incidents happened in Mbizo where the victims live, Mahoko said.
The aggravated indecent assaults were committed on four boys aged between 10 and 12 years while the rape was against a nine-year-old girl.
Of his victims, police said, two boys were aged 10, and the other two were aged 11 and 12.
Prosecutors proved in court that Mutangi would routinely lure the minors separately to his home when they were on their own.
He would show them some pornographic videos on his phone before forcing them to be intimate with him.
The matter came to light on 19 April this year when two of the victims disclosed the issue after the convict had refused to lend them a bicycle pump.
The crimes landed in in court where a full trial was conducted before Provincial Magistrate Mugwagwa Rumbidzai who later handed him the lengthy term on 27 April.
On 8 May this year, following news of the sentence filtering within the local community, yet another report of rape on a six-year-old was filed against the convict and is now under investigation, said Mahoko, who has since praised the courts for passing the lengthy sentence.
Mahoko urged parents and guardians to safeguard their young children against possible abuse by sex predators as well as teach them to report any acts related to the serious crime.
