Late drama as Caps United rescue draw against MWOS

Title aspirants Caps United snatched an injury time equaliser to give a dramatic finish to an exciting Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match Day 12 clash that ended 2-2 with 10-men MWOS who had flown to two late goals at Rufaro stadium Wednesday.

The draw was good enough for the Green Machine who were lucky to keep their top spot on the league table after second placed Hardrock suffered a defeat to Highlanders in another mid-week clash played same afternoon.

Caps United were first to find the net through a Takunda Benhura glancing header off a Talent Chamboko delivery after 72 minutes but super-sub Billy Veremu came in with an 85th minute equaliser for the Punters, just two minutes after being introduced into the match.

There was, however, to be a late drama in the match as Veremu seemed to have won it for MWOS in the 89th minute only for Chamboko to beautifully nod in a corner deep in additional time to secure a point for the Green Machine.

In another match played same day, Highlanders finally breached Hardrock’s unbeaten home record when they beat their hosts by 1-0 at Chahwanda stadium in Kwekwe.

Ngezi Platinum Stars remained unbeaten when they forced a 1-1 draw against TelOne at Baobab stadium in Mhondoro-Ngezi.

Elsewhere, champions Scottland finally remembered how to win after beating AGAMA by 2-1 at Wadzanayi stadium whilst Chicken Inn humbled former champions Simba Bhora by 1-0 at Barbourfields stadium.

FC Platinum beat ZPC Kariba by 1-0 at Nyamhunga stadium whilst Manica Diamonds drew 1-all with FC Hunters at Sakubva stadium in Mutare.

The 2-all stalemate between Triangle United and Bulawayo Chiefs at Gibbo stadium put a lid on the mid-week fixtures’ goal rush.

On Thursday, Herentals College host Dynamos at Rufaro stadium to conclude Match Day 12 round of league fixtures.
