Dynamos and Scottland Sunday finally tested their first league defeats of the current premiership race as they both fell by identical 2-1 margins to complete a barren Match Day 10 weekend for all three Harare based football heavyweights.

In a match played at Rufaro stadium, Scottland suffered a heartbreak when Harrison Masina struck for Simba Bhora with four minutes remaining of the match to eventually lose to the Shamva side.

Khama Billiat scored his sixth goal of the season after only nine minutes into the match to give Norman Mapeza and his men an early lead only for Namibian striker McCartney Naweseb to restore parity for Simba Bhora in the 56th minute.

From then on, it was one way traffic as Simba Bhora began to dictate the pace.

In another match played same day, Dynamos also fell 2-1 to Chicken Inn at Barbourfields stadium.

This was Dynamos’ first defeat in league matches they have played since August last year when former interim coach Kelvin Kaindu took over the reigns to save the Glamour Boys from what looked like imminent relegation.

Ironically, it was the same opponents – Chicken Inn – who last condemned DeMbare to a 3-0 defeat on 27 July 2025 at Luveve stadium before the Harare giants went on a fairy tale run that was ended Sunday ironically by their former son Tonderayi Ndiraya, who now commands the Chicken Inn dugout.

Elsewhere, Ngezi Platinum Stars continued with their stellar show when they beat bottom placed Manica Diamonds 1-0 at Baobab stadium.

On Saturday, Hardrock trimmed table toppers Caps United’s lead at the summit of the league table after netting half a dozen goals and conceding 1 over Hunters at Chahwanda stadium in Kwekwe.

It was the biggest margin of victory recorded by any club in all competitions this season.

Caps United fell 1-0 to a gritty Bulawayo Chiefs at Rufaro stadium.

This was Makepekepe’s second defeat of the season after losing 1-0 away at Ngezi Platinum Stars at Baobab stadium in March this year.

AGAMA drew nil-all with FC Platinum at Wadzanayi stadium whilst ZPC Kariba were also involved in a goalless affair with MWOS at Nyamhunga stadium in Kariba.

In Friday’s only match, Highlanders missed several gilt-edged chances to settle for a 1-1 draw with Herentals College at Rufaro stadium.

Following the weekend’s fixtures, Caps United remain in pole position on the league table with 22 points while Hardrock continue to breath down their necks with 21 points.

Ngezi Platinum Stars are now third with 20 points.

All teams have played 10 games each.
