Daring thieves stole a haulage truck at Mavambo shopping centre in Ruwa, Harare on Friday. The value of the truck was estimated to be US$120 000.
Confirming the theft case, police spokesperson for Harare Province Inspector Luckmore Chakanza said the incident happened between 5pm and 8pm.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) would like to confirm that on 1 May 2026 at about 5pm, the victim, Frank Magadza (46), parked a white Sharkman horse registration number AHA 1125 and trailer registration number AGK 9928 opposite Ruwa Dutch Church and proceeded to his place of residence,” said Inspector Chakanza in a statement.
“The truck was not loaded and was locked.”
But on the same day around 8pm, Magadza returned to where he had parked intending to move the truck to the garage along Mutare Road in the same suburb to find both truck and its trailer missing.
Magadza immediately then hired a taxi to try and track the truck around within the immediate surroundings but failed to find it.
He then filed a report of the theft at Ruwa police station.
Police officers who first attended the crime scene observed some tyre track heading due East from Dutch Church heading to Chiremba Road but could not further trace the nmnovement of the truck after signs that it joined a tarred road.
The theft was referred to the police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS) for further investigation.
The total value stolen is US$120 000 and nothing was recovered.
