Woman’s corpse found on street with multiple stab wounds, bruises on privates
Police launch appeal for information on victim's identity

A woman believed to be in her early 20s was found dead in Harare’s Rugare suburb with stab wounds and bruises on her private parts.
Police spokesperson for Harare Province Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and launched appeal for any information that could lead to the identification of the woman and the possible arrest of her killers.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) would like to confirm that on 24 April 2026 at around 9am, a member of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee received a call from an unknown number to the effect that there was a female dead body lying along Nyashanu Road, Rugare in Harare,” said Inspector Chakanza in a statement.
A report was made at Warren Park police station.
Police details together with CID Homicide and CID Forensic attended the crime scene.
“It was observed that the deceased was wearing a pant, an orange T-shirt, and a wrap-over with mixed colours, lying face-up with bruises on the vagina indicating that she may have been raped,” said Chakanza, adding that several stab wounds were noticed on her back and both hands.
The body was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem.
Chakanza appealed to members of the public who may be missing a female relative who is approximately 25 years of age to come forward and identify the body.
Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
