Zimbabwe football legend Peter Ndlovu’s former club Coventry City has been promoted back into the English premiership, ending 25 years of waiting to re-join the elite football league.
Coventry City sealed their place in the 2026-27 season Friday night following a 1-1 draw away to Blackburn Rovers Friday to take their points tally to 86 points from 43 games in the 24-team EFL Championship.
The Sky Blues gave Ndlovu his first chance to play international club football outside Zimbabwe in 1991 after playing for local giants Highlanders as a sensational teenage star.

He would go on to star for the Coventry City until 1997 with one of the highlights of his career in the famous sky blue shirt being the famous hattrick he scored for his team while playing against Liverpool at Anfield back in 1995.
By turning out for Coventry City, Ndlovu, now team manager with Zimbabwe champions Scottland, also carved his name in the annals of football history by becoming the first native African footballer to play professionally in the new English Premier League.
