Case postponed to April 24 for updates on victim compensation and the missing firearm

Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, son to Zimbabwe’s former President Robert Mugabe, has pleaded guilty to pointing a firearm and violating South Africa’s immigration laws.

This follows the widely publicised shooting incident that injured a 23-year-old gardener in March this year.

The controversial Mugabe sibling Friday appeared at the Alexandra Regional Court alongside co-accused Tobias Matonhodze, who also pleaded guilty to charges including attempted murder and illegal possession of ammunition.

The case was postponed to April 24 for updates on victim compensation and the missing firearm.

Mugabe and his co-accused have been in custody since March for allegedly shooting and injuring a gardener.

In addition to attempted murder, they are also charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as defeating the ends of justice.

The gun used in the shooting has yet to be found.
