A Bindura-based lawyer has been jailed for an effective 15 years imprisonment after masterminding and taking part in an armed robbery incident that happened in Mount Darwin.
Elatone Bonongwe (57) was convicted alongside five accomplices over the October 2023 attack on Pfura Rural District Council engineer Emson Chitsungo.
His co-accused are Musa Gandi, Agnes Kunaka, Terrence Musingwimi, Justin James and Tafadzwa Obrey Chipashu.
During trial, the court heard that Bonongwe and his accomplices armed themselves with an AK-47, a bayonet and iron rods before attacking and ransacking Chitsungo’s home, stealing cash and electronics valued at US$30 000.
