Mnangagwa fires CIO boss for ‘taking girlfriend on trip with the president’
Spy chief also reportedly accused of drafting relatives into secret service jobs

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reportedly fired Central Intelligence Organisation Director-General, Fulton Mangwanya and replaced him with Zimbabwe’s former ambassador to China, Paul Chikawa.
According to a post by investigative journalist Hopewell Chinono, Mangwanya was fired “with immediate effect”.
While there has not yet been an official statement announcing the sacking of the spy chief, reports say Mangwanya has faced allegations of nepotism, including claims that he hired relatives and drafted them into influential positions within the secret service.
Further allegations suggest that he took a woman believed to be his lover on official international trips alongside the president and senior directors were quietly complaining about the alleged abuse of office.
