Forgotten Zimbabwe Warriors defender Tendayi Darikwa is back in the EFL Championship after captaining his Lincoln City Football Club to promotion into England’s second tier professional competition.
Appointed captain by the Imps in the 2024-25 season, Darikwa’s team beat Reading 2-1 to climb from the EFL League One to the Sky Bet Championship for the first time in 65 years.
The former Wigan Athletic skipper was named Lincoln City Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year in the 2024-25 season after an impressive first season in red and white.

The 34-year-old has 14 caps for the Zimbabwe Warriors national team.
Born in England to a Zimbabwean father and a mother of British and Caribbean heritage, Darikwa has also played for clubs such as Burnley and Nottingham Forest.
He made his debut for Zimbabwe on November 8, 2017, against Lesotho and was a part of the Zimbabwe squad at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
