Traditional league giants Caps United and Dynamos’ bid to restore lost pride in domestic football continued to pay off on Sunday when both sides registered victories in two separate clashes played at different venues.
At Rufaro stadium, log leaders Caps United bounced back from their defeat to Ngezi Platinum in the previous clash by beating Manica Diamonds 2-0 to maintain poll position on the table.
Both their goals were scored in the second half by Chawanangwa Kaonga and Young Alley Mukombedzi, who beat his markers before chipping the ball over the opponent’s goalkeeper after 67 minutes.
At Wadzanai stadium, a Frank Agyemang’s beauty deep into injury time first half gave Dynamos a priceless 1-0 victory over their hosts Simba Bhora.
Earlier, Dynamos Jairos Kasondo’s penalty strike was punched back into play by Simba Bhora goalkeeper to deny the visitors their opener.
With the results, Caps United took their points tally to 15 from six games played so far while Dynamos are second on the league table on 14 points.
