Five juveniles have been identified by police as among six family members who perished Thursday morning when their Toyota Corolla vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a horrific road traffic accident at the 246-kilometre peg along Harare-Masvingo Road.

The family car was involved in a head-on collision with a Mercedes Benz truck.

Crash scenes recorded and shared on social media by witnesses showed a severed head of one of the victims and blood stained debris strewn on the tarmac.

Said police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi in a statement, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police releases the names of the victims who were identified by their next of kin as listed:-

➤ Lilian Maranda Mujuru (40), a female adult of Tynwald North, Harare,

➤ Nokutenda Mujuru (15), a female juvenile of Tynwald North, Harare,

➤ Makanaka Mujuru (13), a female juvenile of Tynwald North, Harare,

➤ Ronald Junior Mujuru (11), a male juvenile of Tynwald North, Harare,

➤ Rufaro Shalom Mujuru (Seven), a female juvenile of Tynwald North, Harare

➤ Kayden Mujuru (three), a male juvenile of Tynwald North, Harare.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police extends deepest condolences to the family of the victims. We appeal to drivers to seriously consider road safety while moving on the country’s roads this Easter and Independence Holidays.”
