Security guard disappears after US$87,000 company theft

A security guard who was employed to look after funds at a cash-in-transit company in Victoria Falls has reportedly gone missing after an audit uncovered the theft of US$86,989, police have said.

Police have since launched an appeal for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect, Jumani Chuma (43) who abandoned his job on Monday.

Police said Chuma “is wanted in connection with a case of theft which occurred in Victoria Falls”.

“The suspect, who was employed at a security company as a cash-in-transit officer responsible for operating the vault where the company kept its funds, allegedly went missing on 30 March 2026.

“Following an audit, the company discovered that US$86,989 was unaccounted for. Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station,” police said through their official communication on X.
