Gokwe teen follows step-son (3) to the bush, strangles him
Dead minor had left home to relieve self - police

In a callous act of murder, an 18-year-old Gokwe woman allegedly strangled her 3-year-old step-son after following him to the bush where the toddler had gone to relieve himself.
The incident, according to a statement by police spokesperson for Midlands Province Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, happened on Friday at Village Madzura under Chief Sai in Gokwe South.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Gokwe District is investigating a case of suspected murder, as defined in section 47 of The Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23 in the aftermath of the death of a three-year-old boy on Friday 13 February 2026 at about 10am at village Madzura under Chief Sai in Gokwe South,” said Inspector Mahoko.
Mahoko identified the minor as Alvin Makore and the suspect as Sharai Foromani.
The two were staying together at the family home, according to police.
Makore is said to have gone to the bushes behind the homestead to relieve himself.
Foromani allegedly trailed him and carried him further into the bushes, strangled him and left the body at the scene.
After not seeing Alvin for a long period, the minor’s uncle Dambudzo Machona (55) inquired about his whereabouts.
He did not get a satisfactory answer from Foromani.
A search was subsequently carried out, leading to the discovery of the body and the suspect’s spoor at the scene.
“Whilst the police are still investigating the case, the public need to be reminded that taking someone’s life is never the best solution of solving problems,” said Mahoko.
