Fugitive Chinese fraud suspect cornered by Zimbabwe police

A Chinese national who escaped prosecution in his country after allegedly committing fraud in 2023 has been arrested by Zimbabwean police in Harare.

Police of Wednesday shared the image of Xu Liyin who is wanted by authorities back in his country.

“The suspect was on an INTERPOL Red Notice for a fraud case committed in China in 2023,” police said in a statement posted on their official X handle.

“His arrest follows close cooperation and strong coordination between law enforcement agencies in Zimbabwe, China and INTERPOL. The ZRP remains committed to upholding the law and strengthening international policing partnerships.”

Xi is now set to be repatriated back to his country to face his crimes.
