Tenant knifed to death in landlord, wife’s row over supper
25-year-old landlord accused lodger of being in love with his wife

A 24-year-old Mvuma man was stabbed to death by his landlord who first raged at his wife for not preparing supper before accusing the now deceased of being in a love relationship with his (landlord) woman.
The incident, according to police spokesperson for Midlands Province Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, occurred on 31 January 2026.
Mahoko identified the suspect as Aleck Chaminuka (25) who first quarrelled with his wife when he returned from work to find she had not yet prepared food for him.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirms a case of murder where a 24-year-old man was stabbed and pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital,” said Inspector Mahoko in a statement.
“The incident occurred in Mushayabvudzi residential suburb, Mvuma, on 31 January 2026 at about 8pm.
“The suspect in the case, Aleck Chaminuka, was a landlord to the now deceased Tanaka Musiiwa.”
It is alleged that Chaminuka arrived home from Chivhu, where he works, and discovered that his wife Caroline Hofisi (23) had not prepared food for him.
She told her husband that she had delayed preparing food because she also had just arrived from a church service.
A dispute arose over the issue, prompting the wife to seek refuge in the tenant’s room where she was welcomed by Musiiwa’s wife.
When Musiiwa arrived home, he was immediately confronted by Chaminuka who accused the now deceased of being in a love relationship with his wife.
“An altercation ensued between the two while their wives were inside Musiiwa’s room,” said Mahoko.
“Chaminuka then allegedly took a knife and stabbed Musiiwa once.”
Neighbours took Musiiwa to Mvuma District Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Chaminuka was arrested and charged with murder.
“Once again, we call upon members of the public to resolve disputes in a peaceful manner,” said Mahoko.
