Missing Goromonzi man’s body found hanging from tree
26-year-old's remains were discovered in advanced state of decomposition - police

In a case of suspected suicide, a 26-year-old man was Monday found hanging from a tree branch in a Goromonzi with his body reported to have been in an advanced state of decomposition.
Tawanda Nyamupingidza of Plot 10 Buena Vista Lot 3 Goromonzi had been missing for the past few days, according to a statement by police spokesperson for Harare Province Inspector Luckmore Chakanza.
His body was discovered by a fellow villager who had been fetching some firewood in the bush.
“On 26 January 2026 at about 6pm, Varaidzo Chenga, who resides at Plot 6 Buena Vista Lot 3 Goromonzi, was looking for firewood in the nearby hilly bush of Buena Vista Farm when she was overwhelmed by a pungent smell and immediately checked around,” Chakanza said.
“She then saw a lifeless body hanging from a tree branch and strongly suspected that the body could be that of Kimberly Nyatsanga’s nephew who had been missing for the past few days.”
Chenga reportedly contacted Nyatsanga, who later positively identified the body as that of the missing relative.
Nyamupingidza had been missing for nearly seven days, police said.
His body was hanging from a tree branch, tied with a black synthetic rope on the neck.
CID Studios attended the scene on the following day before it was conveyed to Goromonzi Hospital pending post-mortem.
Police are now investigating the incident.
