A Chinese miner lost US$11,000 cash plus a pistol after four armed robbers stormed her Harare home on Saturday night to commit the heinous offence.

Police spokesperson for Harare Province Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the robbery incident and identified the victim as Liu Yirou (22) who was targeted at her home in Vainona, Harare.

The suspects scaled a precast wall and went on to force the dining door open using an unknown object.

“On 6 December 2025 at around 9.30pm, the victim was asleep in her bedroom when she was awakened by the sound of the bedroom door being opened,” said Chakanza in a statement. “She saw four unknown male adults entering the room with two of them armed with black pistols.”

The suspects then threatened to kill her whilst demanding safe keys which she surrendered out of fear.

“They opened the safe which was in the bedroom and took cash amounting to US$11,000,” said Chakanza, adding that the suspects forced open the gun cabinet and took a 9mm Glock pistol before they left.

The victim filed a report at Borrowdale police station.

The firearm was valued at US$2,500, with the total stolen adding up to S$13,500.

Nothing was recovered.
