Dynamos lift third consecutive Chibuku Super Cup trophy
By Auther Chimbgwa
Dynamos substitute striker Enasio Perezo scored 10 minutes from full time against Triangle to hand his side a third consecutive Chibuku Super Cup triumph in an exciting final played at Gibbo stadium on Saturday.
With the opponents seemingly headed for a goalless 90 minutes, Perezo curled his effort from outside the box to produce a beauty that nestled into the right top corner of the Triangle goalpost.
The match was a tale of missed opportunities for both sides.
But the unsung hero of the match from a Dynamos perspective would be their goalkeeper Prince Tafiremutsa who made some crucial saves to keep his side in the match.
He was, however, substituted towards the end of the first half due to injury after colliding with an opponent.
The victory by Dynamos was a remarkable achievement by head coach Kelvin Kaindu who never lost a single match since taking over the Harare giants’ technical role late into the just ended season.
The triumph also capped off a fine moment for captain Emmanuel Jalai who lifted the cup for the last time for Dynamos as he is reportedly heading for Scottland after the conclusion of this season.
Club fans cheered the moment which was seen as impossible when Dynamos struggled to win matches in the first half of the 2025 league race.
For winning the trophy, Dynamos walked away with $75,000 prize money while Triangle pocketed $50,000 as the runners up.
With the victory, the Glamour Boys earn the ticket to represent Zimbabwe in the CAF Confederation Cup due next year.
