Police in Zhombe have finally arrested a suspect who had been on their most wanted list in connection with murder and other violent crimes dating back to 2018.

Police spokesperson for Midlands Province Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrest of Goodhope Mahachi (39) last Saturday with the suspect’s last known home being in Mbizo, Kwekwe.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirms the arrest of a wanted person in connection with a number of violent crimes dating back to 2018.

“He was arrested by Zhombe police at Zhombe East Business Centre, Zhombe on 6 September 2025 at about 7pm,” said Inspector Mahoko in a statement.

Mahachi was arrested by police officers who were conducting stop and searches at Zhombe East Business Centre.

“The suspect tried several of his antics to resist arrest but was finally nabbed and detained. It turned out to be a high-profile arrest and we commend the police officers involved in the arrest,” said Mahoko.

Mahachi has been linked to cases of murder, attempted murder, assault and malicious damage to property committed between the year 2018 and 2024 around Kwekwe district.

“We reiterate our calls that the general public should remain vigilant and on the lookout for criminal fugitives who may be in their midst targeting anything they can lay their hands on,” Mahoko added.
