Harare cop pens book, an enthralling collection of fiction stories

A Zimbabwe Republic Police officer has published a book which pioneers what he plans to be a longer and fruitful career into the literary world.
Jeremiah Mudonha is a 36-year-old Sergeant attached to the Press and Public Relations department at Harare Central police station.
His book, entitled “In the Azari Kingdom”, is a collection of short stories printed under TalNet Independent publishers and offers a refreshing window into Mudonha’s awe-inspiring writing competence.
The author, poet and journalist holds a First-Class degree in Media Studies and a diploma in Public Relations.
He is also a part-time media studies lecturer at some local training institutions.
“I developed an interest in writing at a young age and my new book will hopefully leave an indelible footprint on Zimbabwe’s literary industry,” Mudonha told Zimstar News.
“‘In the Azari Kingdom’ is a book that takes readers to extraordinary realms where they learn valuable morals, experience drama, and get excited while being educated on the richness of the English language.
“It’s a dream come true for me, and I’m thrilled to share it with readers as part of my Calabash Scrolls series.
“I’m looking forward to sharing more books in this series, with the next one, a detective novel, set to be released early next year, Lord willing.”
“In the Azari Kingdom” is modelled in the form of fictitious stories on a kingdom of the writer’s creation.
The book has 15 unputdownable short stories which are generally didactic in nature. It has reading checks at the end of each short story.
Former Editor of The Mirror – now defunct – Tawanda Majoni, described Mudonha’s book as a brave attempt at showcasing his undoubted writing skills.
“There is no doubt about the fluidity, organic richness and poetry in Mudonha’s prose. If he keeps on that trajectory, no doubt, he will easily join the hall of Zimbabwe’s celebrated writers,” said Majoni.
The book, now being sold at US$10 per copy, is also available on Amazon and can be accessed on the internet.
Mudonha was born on April 13, 1986 at Nyadire Hospital in Mutoko. He attended Holland Primary School in Mvurwi and later Chimbumu High school in Guruve.
He is a devoted husband to Ophilious and a doting father to the couple’s four sons namely Arthur, Anotidaishe, Ackevson and Aviel.
