Caps United fall to ZPC Kariba as Highlanders held by Yadah
By Auther Chimbgwa
Caps United suffered their third defeat in four games following a 3-1 loss to ZPC Kariba in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match Day 27 clash played at Rufaro stadium on Sunday.
Moses Demere scored in the 17th and 22nd minute before Charles Munyanyi added another deep in stoppage time to extinguish Caps United’s hopes of at least earning a point.
The poor pitch condition allowed Demere to benefit from a lucky bounce that evaded the Caps United goalkeeper for his first goal.
Caps though pulled one back in the 35th minute through Love Mabiala but the effort was not enough to reverse the damage.
In other matches played same day, Highlanders drew 1-1 with Yadah at Barbourfields while Kwekwe United threw away a two goal lead to end the clash with Manica Diamonds at 2-2 as Ascot. Triangle United clobbered Herentals College 4-2 at Gibbo stadium.
In matches played on Saturday, veteran star Denver Mukamba produced a moment of magic when he volleyed home from inside the box late in the match to earn Dynamos a 3-2 victory over Scottland before a packed Rufaro stadium.
Dynamos have now notched four consecutive league victories as they put up a spirited bid to avoid relegation.
Elsewhere, log leaders Simba Bhora were held to a goalless draw by Green Fuel at the Green Fuel Arena in Chisumbanje. They now have 54 points, two ahead of second placed Scottland.
FC Platinum suffered their fourth consecutive defeat when they fell 1-0 to Ngezi Platinum Stars at Baobab.
MWOS beat Chicken Inn 2-1 at Ngoni stadium to reignite their title aspirations while TelOne emerged the biggest winners of the weekend when they hammered Bikita Minerals 4-0 at Gibbo stadium.
