Harare man’s charred remains found after cabin gutted by fire

A 39-year-old Harare man died a painful death on Monday following a fire which gutted his cabin in Harare’s East View Phase 6.

Police spokesperson for Harare Province Inspector Luckmore Chakanza identified the victim as Kudakwashe Mangwende, whose charred remains were found at the fire scene.

“On the 25th of August 2025 at around 10pm, the deceased’s neighbour Sanisai Kandowe noticed that Mangwende’s cabin was on fire and called out for help from people within the proximity.

“They came and tried to extinguish the fire, but by that time, the flames had already engulfed the cabin which was subsequently razed.

“When the fire had subsided, they noticed the lifeless and charred body lying facing upwards. The informant then made a report to Mabvuku Police station,” said Inspector Chakanza.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established and investigations are in progress.
