Relegation threatened giants Dynamos’s mini-revival under new head coach Kelvin Kaindu gained momentum following an emphatic 3-0 victory over basement side Kwekwe United in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Match Day 25 clash played at Ascot Stadium this Sunday.
Jairos Kasondo scored after 3 minutes, Wisdom Mutasa added the second 17 minutes later with second half substitute Ramson Chingwara making it 3 for Dynamos after 91 minutes.
This was Dynamos’s second league win in a row after the fallen giants’ surprise victory over MWOs a few weeks ago.
Dynamos have claimed victories over Yadah and Simba Bhora in the Chibuku Super Cup since parting ways with former coach Saul Chaminuka for Kelvin Kaindu.
The game also saw Dynamos score more than a single goal in a league match this season.
Dynamos have scored just 10 goals in 25 league matches they have played so far.
In other matches, FC Platinum’s title ambitions were ruined by Triangle United who beat the former champions 2-0 at Gibbo stadium.
At Barbourfields, TelOne also humiliated Highlanders in front of their fans by posting a 2-0 victory over the once feared league giants.
Veteran goalie Eriel Sibanda missed a penalty that was awarded to the hosts with 15 minutes left on the referee’s clock following a handball decision that had earlier been disputed by TelOne.
Caps United also suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Yadah FC at Rufaro stadium.
In matches played on Saturday, MWOS conceded a stoppage time goal to lose 1-0 to fellow title contenders Simba Bhora at Ngoni Stadium.
The result saw Simba Bhora reclaim top spot from Scott Sakupwanya’s Scottland, who had earlier climbed to the top of the league table following a 2-1 victory over ZPC Kariba on Friday.
Simba Bhora have now amassed 50 points, one more than Scottland.
Elsewhere, Ngezi Platinum’s push for their second league title suffered a setback when they were held to a 1-1 draw by a 10 men Bikita Minerals at Baobab stadium.
Herentals College also kept their faint title hopes alive when they floored Green Fuel at the Green Fuel Arena in Chisumbanje.
Manica Diamonds held Chicken Inn to a goalless draw at Luveve stadium in Bulawayo to complete Saturday’s goal rush.
