Family horror after home raided by armed gang at night

A Gweru family was left traumatised after four men who were armed with a gun and knife stormed their Nashville home in the early hours of Wednesday before making off with cash and property which included a Nissan Patrol motor vehicle.
In a statement, police spokesperson for Midlands province Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed they were investigating the armed robbery which occurred at around 3am on Wednesday.
The four suspects, police said, pounced on the Nashville family armed with the weapons.
“They broke the kitchen door, demanded cash and valuables from the complainant and his wife,” Mahoko said.
“They stole US$150 cash, a Samsung cell phone, seven-kilogram gas tank and a pellet gun.
“They also demanded car keys from the complainants and went on to tie their hands with shoe laces before driving away in the complainants’ Nissan Patrol motor vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered dumped in Hertfordshire Residential area.”
Meanwhile, in a related incident, three suspects who were armed with a knife and gun also stormed a home in Ascot, Gweru same night and made off with cash and cell phones amounting to US$400.
“The suspects forced entry into a house, ordered everyone to lie down, stole US$120 and two cell phones for which they demanded PIN numbers.
“One of the suspects fired one gun shot in the air before they fled from the scene,” Mahoko said.
Police have launched an appeal for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
The value of the property stolen in both incidents was estimated at US$7,880.
