Beer drink gone wrong after man stones brother to death

A 27-year-old Mberengwa man is on the run after he fatally struck his own brother with a brick leading to his death.
The incident happened at Village Magidhi under Chief Mtevaidze in Mberengwa on 25 July 2025 at around 5pm, according to a statement by police spokesperson for Midlands province Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.
The suspect was identified as Osy Sibangwa and the victim as Onica Sibangwa (33).
Mahoko said the brothers were enjoying a beer drink at Banana Business Centre when they had the quarrel.
“Suddenly Osy stood up, picked a brick and struck his brother on the forehead for a reason yet to be established.
“Onica sustained a deep cut on the forehead and fell down. He was rushed to Masase Hospital where he was further transferred to Mpilo Hospital. On 30 July 2025 at about 1100 hours Onica passed away,” he said.
The police spokesperson appealed for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
