A 14-year-old Form 2 pupil was raped allegedly by a man who had treated her and her stepmother to a beer drink and shelter in Ruwa after the two had been turned away for returning home late by her father.
The minor, who cannot be named on ethical grounds, stays with her father and her stepmother in Ruwa.
Police say on 9 July, she accompanied her stepmother to Gazebo, Mabvuku where the woman wanted to leave her child with her own mother.
But, on their way back home, and while at Damafalls, they were invited for a beer drink by the stepmother’s friend.
The friend, according to a police memo seen by Zimstar News, called her boyfriend, Clive Sibanda (21), who came and drove them for a beer drink at a bar being operated by his parents at Mutamba shops.
The girl also took part in the beer drink, according to police.
“During that time, the complainant met the accused person who then proposed love to her,” police said.
“The complainant told her stepmother of the intentions of the accused person. The stepmother told the complainant to accept the offer and she agreed.”
The minor and her stepmother were later driven home at 9pm by Sibanda only to be turned away by her father who told them to return to where they had spent the day.

They were then picked again by Sibanda who offered them some accommodation at the back of the bar with the two sleeping in separate rooms.
“The complainant slept on the bed. After a few moments, she woke up and saw the accused person naked touching her waist.
“She pushed the accused person away using her hand, he resisted and touched the complainant’s waist for the second time.
“The accused person got on top of the complainant, pulled her dress to the waist, pushed her pant aside, he inserted his erect penis into the complainant’s vagina and had unprotected sexual intercourse once without her consent.”
She informed her stepmother about the incident in the morning.
They later returned home in the evening with the stepmother lying to her husband that they slept at a friend’s house.
The minor’s father later pressed her to reveal the day’s events and she narrated everything, leading to Sibanda’s arrest.
