Top cop detained for raping subordinate’s teenage daughter

By Staff Reporter
A senior police officer based in Lupane allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl who is a daughter to his subordinate and neighbour.
The 39-year-old suspect was dragged to court facing rape and indecent assault charges.
The juvenile is a student and the daughter of another police officer who lives within the same camp quarters with the suspect.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) reports that on 13 June this year, the senior police officer “forcibly took the complainant into his residence within the police camp where he sexually assaulted her”.

“He instructed her to leave and checked to ensure no one saw her departure. The minor did not immediately report this incident,” NPAZ said.
“Earlier on, while the minor was fetching water, the accused person approached her, pushed her against a vehicle, and touched her inappropriately before attempting to kiss her.
“The complainant managed to escape but did not report that incident either. The complainant eventually disclosed the alleged offences on the 19th of June, 2025.”
The suspect was remanded to 9 July 2025.
