Former Deputy Minister of Finance and ex-legislator David Chapfika has died after his
Mercedes-Benz ML collided with another vehicle before veering off a bridge and overturning.

He was 68.

Reports say Chapfika’s vehicle drove off a bridge and landed on its roof in a river along the Harare-Shamva Road near Stordon-Empire Farm in Goromonzi. His brother, Mr Clifford Chapfika, confirmed the tragic incident..

In a post on X, Skills Audit and Development Minister Paul Mavima expressed sadness over the passing of the former Mutoko South MP.

“My deepest condolences on the tragic passing of Former Deputy Finance Minister David Chapfika. May his family find strength and comfort during this difficult time. May his legacy and contributions be remembered and cherished. Rest in peace, Honourable Chapfika,” Mavima said.
