Police spokesperson for Harare province Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed Monica Siziba’s arrest for infanticide.
The informant is Simbarashe Madyavanhu, a 43-year-old plumber who is self employed.
The remains of the infant, according to Chakanza, were discovered by Madyavanhu who had been hired to attend to a faulty drainage system at the Zengeza 4 home on Friday around 10am.
“…He discovered a baby boy buried about 30cm in the ground,” Chakanza said.
“Simbarashe Madyavanhu then reported the matter at ZRP Zengeza. The scene was attended by a team led by Sergeant Mutengerere…the team observed that the deceased was naked.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that Monica Siziba who is a house maid at the place of occurrence admitted to have given birth to the baby boy on 18 May 2025 at round 5pm and buried it.
