Police arrest first suspect linked to US$46,000 theft from car

Police have arrested their first suspect who is part of a gang linked to the recent theft of US$46,000 cash from a parked car in the Kwekwe city centre.

Linas Tshuma (40) was arrested by detectives from CID Homicide, Bulawayo on Monday following a tip-off, police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said in a statement.

“The detectives made a follow up and arrested the suspect at a house in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo,” Nyathi said.

“The arrest led to the recovery of a Sumsung M13 cell phone suspected to have been bought using the stolen money, the suspects’ get-away car, a Toyota Mark X, registration number AFO 6880, registration plates AFA 1529, a driller, rivet gun, and various clothes which were captured on CCTV being worn by one of the suspects at the crime scene.”

Nyathi said the other suspects are still at large.

They are Thethelani Ndlovu, Esau Mazarura, Bhekinkosi Tshuma, Mpiloenhle Ndlovu, Xolani Tshuma, Gugulethu Khumalo, and Reason Moyo alias Tsorinso.
