Toddler dead after plunge into 40-litre dish with hot porridge

In a tragic incident, a two-year-old Binga toddler died following an accidental fall into a 40-litre dish which contained some hot porridge, police have said, adding that the infant was “severely burnt”.

In a post on their X handle, police said the incident occurred at Nzovunde Village, Binga, on Tuesday.

“The dish had been left unattended by the victim’s grandmother, who was preparing to brew traditional beer. The toddler was severely burnt and succumbed to the injuries on 4 June 2025,” police said.
