Rape exposed after 9-year-old niece seen not “walking properly”

A strange change in the way a 9-year-old girl walks has exposed a shock case of repeated rape against the minor by a 22-year-old Rusape man who is an uncle to the victim.
The offender, according to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), ordered the minor to remove her underwear and proceeded to rape her.
The sexual abuse came to light on March 21, 2025, when the victim’s aunt “noticed that she was not walking properly”.
“The sexual abuse began in January 2025 on an unknown date and again in March 2025,” NPAZ said on its X handle.
“The offender would send the victim to a tuckshop to buy biscuits. Upon her return, he would call her into his bedroom, order her to remove her underwear and proceed to rape her.
“Afterwards, he would give her the biscuits.”
The victim was subsequently taken to a local clinic where she was further referred to the district hospital owing to suspicion of sexual abuse.
At the hospital, the minor disclosed the abuse to the nurses and her aunt.
The matter was promptly reported to the police, leading to the offender’s arrest.
For the crime, the offender was slapped with an effective 20-year jail term by a Rusape Regional Court.
