Another Zanu PF MP deplores Zimbabwe’s health delivery system

By Staff Reporter

A Zanu PF member of parliament has admitted that Zimbabwe’s health care is in a dire state and that the majority is struggling to put decent food on the table.

Harare East legislator Kevin Mutimbanyoka was contributing to debate recently on the President’s State of the Nation address delivered last year.

“Yes, we are facing significant challenges,” Mutimbanyoka said.

“At times, we struggle to put decent meals on our tables.

“Our healthcare system is in a precarious state and our currency is under constant attack, compromising its strength, value and stability. Many of our schools are in a deplorable condition, with some collapsing due to strong winds, posing serious damage to our students.”

Mutimbanyoka added, “The economy remains fragile and basic services often seem to be a privilege for the reserved few.”

However, despite acknowledging the challenges he partially blamed on the effects of western imposed sanctions on the country, the MP still maintained President Emmerson Mnangagwa was the right candidate to remedy the situation.

He described the Zanu PF number one as “a remarkable builder and undisputed champion of development”.

Mnangagwa, in power since 2017, is blamed by the opposition for poor leadership and presiding over high level corruption.

His comments dovetail with earlier concerns raised by youth empowerment minister Tinoda Machakaire lamenting the sorry state of the country’s health delivery system.

Following his social media post on the matter, Machakaire came under fire from his Zanu PF colleagues, and mostly, the health ministry for lamenting the country’s dire health delivery system.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care said comments focussed on the negative and failed to highlight the positives achieved in the sector by the Zanu PF led authority.
