Highlanders, Herentals clash to light up Week 13 league fixtures
By Auther Chimbgwa
Football giants Highlanders take on impressive Herentals College on Sunday in what could be argued as the stand-out fixture of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League’s Week 13 round of matches at Barbourfields stadium.
The two teams are only separated by a single point, with Highlanders on fifth spot, having garnered 18 points so far while their opponents lie fourth.
The students are also on fire and are seven points shy of log leaders, MWOs, who have 26 points.
Bosso have flattered to deceive, and fell 2-1 away to ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga stadium in their last fixture.
Therefore, the burning desire to keep pace with MWOS by the opponents is set to give the much needed fillip to the clash.
Another interesting fixture of the day will see fifth from the bottom Caps United date reigning champions Simba Bhora at Rufaro stadium.
New Caps United gaffer Ian Bakala who has started life at the green-shirted outfit with two identical 1-1 draws – against Herentals College and Dynamos – should think deeply about prospects of securing victory against Simba Bhora, positioned third on the log standings.
Triangle United and Manica Diamonds’ fixture at Gibbo stadium complete Match Day 13 games on Sunday.
Match Day 13 fixtures start on Friday when second placed Scottland collide with Chicken Inn at Rufaro stadium.
Saturday then sees five mouth-watering encounters taking place around the country.
The stand-out fixture on that day will be the Ngezi Platinum FC, Dynamos encounter at Baobab stadium in Mhondoro-Ngezi.
These two giants have stuttered this season, but Ngezi, positioned sixth, have an edge over their opponents as they have found the target more often than Dembare, who have three goals to their name in 12 fixtures.
MWOS travel to Chisumbanje to meet Green Fuel at the Green Fuel Arena while FC Platinum, with a massive 10 draws and two wins, lock horns with Yadah FC at the Heart stadium in Harare.
Another catchy clash will be the match between bottom placed Kwekwe United and impressive TelOne at Bata stadium, which the two sides share as their home ground.
TelOne are seventh on the log standings with 18 points, the same number of points as Highlanders, but trail Bosso by virtue of an inferior goal difference.
Bikita Minerals and modest ZPC Kariba’s match complete Saturday’s goal rush at Gibbo stadium.
All the Match Day 13 encounters start at 3pm.
