Teen miner murders colleague over sadza … another teen kills rape victim

In two shock murder incidents, a 19-year-old Shurugwi artisanal miner stabbed a fellow miner to death following a quarrel over a plate of sadza while an 18-year-old and an accomplice also raped, strangled and stabbed their victim to death in Zezani, Matabeleland South before hiding her body in a bush.
In the first incident, police confirmed Tuesday that Nicholas Matanda (19) was arrested in Shurugwi facing murder.
The victim was identified as 26-year-old Tanaka Sithole who died on Sunday after being stabbed with a knife in the armpit following an argument over sharing of sadza on 9 March 2025 at Dollar Farm, Flamingo Turn-off”.
In the second incident, police in Zezani arrested Quinton Sibanda (18) and Kamuelo Moyo (20) in connection with a case of murder which occurred at a bush near Dombolidenje Village.
“The suspects allegedly attacked the victim, Marvelous Tlou (21) before stealing her cell phone.
“They then allegedly took turns to sexually abuse the victim before strangling her and stabbing her with an Okapi knife all over the body.
“Subsequently, they hid the body in the bush. The arrest led to the recovery of the stolen cell phone and the Okapi knife,” police said.
