Jinxed giants Dynamos, Caps United head for pale derby this weekend

By Auther Chimbgwa

Jinxed giants, Dynamos and Caps United clash in the much storied Harare derby at Rufaro Stadium this Sunday, but a poor start to the league campaign by the familiar rivals will likely dim fan anticipation for one of domestic football’s most followed fixtures.

Caps United head into the clash with a slight advantage over their bitter rivals as they have not had as much challenges in finding the back of the net compared to DeMbare, who have just scored two times in 11 games they have played so far.

Dynamos are third from the bottom of the league table with a paltry eight points for all their industry while Caps United are just a point better and occupy position number 14.

However, there could be renewed interest from the fans after the two sides recently reshuffled their jinxed coaching staff with the two Lloyds (Chigowe and Chitembwe) sacked.

The Harare derby is the only fixture that is scheduled for Sunday.

Match Day 12 fixtures begin on Saturday with eight mouth-watering matches on the cards.

Unbeaten log leaders MWOS look to have an easy assignment against crisis-ridden Kwekwe United, who sit at the foot of the standings.

A pitched battle is also on at Sakubva stadium as stubborn opponents Manica Diamonds host second placed Scottland.

In another potentially exciting game, ZPC Kariba lock horns with giants Highlanders, who sit comfortably on number four with 18 points to their name – just five behind MWOS.

Simba Bhora should find it easy to dispatch struggling Triangle at Wadzanayi stadium, where the Shamva based champions have never lost.

In another potentially gripping encounter, Herentals College, buoyed by their recent awarding of three crucial points on a 3-0 scoreline following their abandoned match away to Kwekwe United at Bata stadium last month, host Ngezi Platinum at Rufaro stadium.

FC Platinum have a date with lukewarm Bikita Minerals at Mandava stadium, and should easily preserve their unbeaten record this season.

TelOne, unbeaten at home so far, are expected to continue with their remarkable performance as they face Yadah, while Chicken Inn welcome Green Fuel at Luveve stadium.

All weekend fixtures start at 3pm.
