Dynamos sack coach Lloyd Chigowe over poor results
By Auther Chimbgwa
Dynamos head coach Lloyd Chigowe has been relieved of his duties following a string of poor results that have left the once dominant football club languishing at the bottom of premiership table.
Chigowe has been replaced with Saul Chaminuka, who recently parted ways with league debutants Kwekwe United.
“Following a thorough review of the team’s current performance and log standings, the club has resolved to take immediate action to restore its competitive edge,” the club wrote in a Monday statement.
“To address the performance slump, the management has decided to…restructure the current technical team in its entirety following due process.”
Philemon Mutyakureva was appointed as assistant to Chaminuka while the goalkeepers coach is Marlon Jani.
Recently appointed Dynamos’ Strikers Development coach Takesure Chinyama keeps his job.
The team manager is Ronald ‘Gidiza’ Sibanda while kit manager is Washington Lusengo. He is assisted by Pio Mhizha.
The famed giants, who occupy number 16 on the league table, have only collected eight points from a possible 33 in 11 matches played in the premiership so far.
Dynamos have also scored just two goals in a long 990 minutes of football action, making it the worst starts to any football campaign by the popular club in many years.
The new technical team has the immediate task of restoring the club’s lost glory as Dynamos faces bitter rivals Caps United in a Harare derby at Rufaro stadium this Sunday.
Coincidentally, Caps United have just relieved its own Lloyd Chitembwe, whose start to the league campaign has also been a disastrous affair.
The release of the two ‘Lloyds’ completes a Zimbabwe football episode that has seen all the bottom five premiership teams part ways with their head coaches over poor results.
Meanwhile, Takaendesa Jongwe has been re-appointed as Yadah FC head coach, replacing Ikabort Masocha, who has been in charge since the beginning of the season.
Masocha was however named assistant coach.
