Mutare vegetable thief hanged onto mango tree and murdered

Three Mutare men face murder following an incident in which they allegedly tied a suspected vegetable thief onto a mango tree and took turns to assault him, leading to his death.

Police confirmed the murder of Tariro Manenomuno, who was aged 23, on 6 May this year at a house in Dangamvura high density suburb by the suspects.

The suspects were named as Brighton Kaisa (27), Oliver Kaisa (28) and Garikai Saugwena (50) who allegedly tied the victim onto a mango tree, head down with a cable, before taking turns to assault him.

“The trio beat up the victim with a wire and an electric cable several times all over the body,” police said on the ZRP’s official X handle.

The suspects were set to appear in court facing murder.
