Farm manager steals 100 cattle, 38 Boer goats from employer

A man who was employed as a farm manager in Mvurwi has been arrested for allegedly stealing 100 cattle and 38 Boer goats from his employer.
Police confirmed via their official X handle on Tuesday that Darlington Mapfumo was arrested in Norton on Sunday facing stock theft, which occurred between 2021 and April 2025.
“On 4 May 2025, police in Norton arrested Darlington Mapfumo in connection with a case of stock theft which occurred in Mvurwi between 2021 and April 2025.
“The suspect, who was employed as a farm manager at a farm in Mvurwi, allegedly stole 100 cattle and 38 Boer goats from his employer,” police said.
The value of the stolen livestock, according to police, is US$56,840.
Only 20 cattle were recovered, but none of the 38 Boer goats was.
If convicted, the suspect would likely spend the rest of his life in prison as each stolen cattle in Zimbabwe attracts a mandatory nine-year jail term.
