In a bizarre incident, a 45-year-old man sneaked into a 52-year-old woman’s blankets pretending to be her husband but failed to rape the suspicious victim who bit his finger and grabbed his private parts as she fought hard to deter the intruder who tore her underwear.
A Mutoko magistrate’s court heard recently that the cheeky offender entered the woman’s bedroom at around 8pm on 27 May 2022 in Hoyuyu village while she was sleeping.
The woman remained calm under the belief that the offender was her husband.
She however became suspicious when she noticed that the intruder was awkwardly quiet.
“He sat on the bed and the complainant greeted him assuming it was her husband who had returned home,” said the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) in a statement.
“The complainant took a torch but before she could light it, the offender grabbed the torch from her and he entered into the complainant’s blankets naked.”
The offender then got on top of the complainant and tried to forcibly open her legs, NPAZ said, adding, “The complainant bit the offender’s finger but he was not deterred. He tore the complainant’s undergarment but failed to force her legs apart as she continued to fight back”.
After the complainant pulled the offender’s privates, he fled the scene, leaving his wallet behind.
The contents of the wallet gave the offender away leading to his arrest.
For that attack, a magistrate’s court sentenced the offender to an effective 10 years imprisonment.
