Journalist Blessed Mhlanga finally freed

Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) journalist Blessed Mhlanga has been granted bail by a High Court judge after spending 72 days in remand prison.

Justice Gibson Mandaza ordered the senior scribe to pay US$500 bail coupled with reporting conditions.

Mandaza said, “The appellant is hereby granted bail. He is ordered to deposit US$500 bail not US$200 as has been suggested by his counsel.”

As part of his bail conditions, Mhlanga was ordered not to interfere with witnesses and to continue residing at his given address until his matter is finalised.

Mhlanga was ordered to surrender his passport with the clerk of court and to report at the police once every Friday at CID Law and Order.
