Chinhoyi man knifed to death over 50-cent change

By Auther Chimbgwa

A 28-year-old Chinhoyi man was stabbed to death on Tuesday following a quarrel over $0.50, police have said.

In a post on their official X handle, police confirmed arresting Moreblessing Sekerani (26) following the fatal stabbing of Jimson Makiwa at Witchwood Farm Compound in Chinhoyi.

Police said Makiwa was stabbed “on the chest with an okapi knife” after “the victim had bought grocery at the suspect’s shop and had not been given US$0.50 change.”

This is not the first incident that an argument involving 50 cents has resulted in a fatal confrontation.

Just over a month ago, a Harare man was stoned to death by a kombi tout over US$0.50.

Mike Salliman, who was 33, was attacked by a fellow kombi tout near Lyton flyover in Harare over 50 cents.

Bison Mangande, the suspect, struck the now deceased with a brick, following disagreements over what he believed to be unfair distribution of the day’s earnings which had a difference of 50 cents.
