Police Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba has implored business operators to avoid sharing information about keeping and transportation of company funds with employees amid a spate of armed robberies often targeting business premises and households in the country.

In a Tuesday statement ahead of the country’s Independence Day and Easter holidays, Mutamba also urged members of the public not to carry or keep large sums of money at home or business premises for fear of being targeted by criminal gangs.

“In order to minimise chances of robbery cases, the public is again advised not carry or keep large sums of money at home or business premises. Companies are reminded not to share information on financial transactions or status with each and every employee,” Mutamba said.

He said this will assist to curtail the leakage of information to criminals who may target them.

Mutamba said steps should be taken to minimise falling victim to robbers while urging the public to report any criminal activities at any nearest police stations.

Mutamba further urged parents to guide and properly monitor their children against abusing drugs.

“As school children undertake various social activities during this holiday, parents should guide and properly monitor them to curb cases of drug and substance abuse,” he said, adding, “I would like to urge members of the public to give information on drug bases and drug lords to the nearest Police Station.”
