Simba Bhora, ZPC Kariba fire 9 goals in Saturday premiership fixtures

Reigning champions Simba Bhora and ZPC Kariba both posted emphatic wins that saw them fire a combined 9 goals past their opponents in two separate Castle Lager Premier League Match Day 6 clashes played on Saturday.

At a packed Wadzanai stadium in Shamva, Simba Bhora beat Manica Diamonds 4-1.

Following the result, the Joel Luphala coached side soared to joint second with Scottland and MWOS, with all teams on 11 points each. MWOS however have a game in hand.

Scottland also played to a 1-1 draw with Yadah at Rufaro stadium.

Khama Billiat appeared to have wounded his former paymasters with a 26th minute glancing header only for Yadah to restore parity in the 44th minute through Mustafa F.

The Zimbabwe Warriors star did not celebrate the goal in keeping with the unwritten football tradition.

Elsewhere, log leaders Ngezi Platinum dealt a blow to their title aspirations when they fell 1-2 to TelOne at Bata stadium.

The Wifi boys have won all their three home matches.

In other Saturday fixtures, ZPC Kariba had no mercy for premiership debutants Kwekwe United who they demolished 5-0 at Nyamhunga stadium, producing the biggest victory for the day.

At Mandava, a lukewarm FC Platinum again settled for a drab 0-0 result against Green Fuel while Bikita Minerals and bottom placed Triangle settled for a 1-1 draw at Sakubva to complete Saturday’s round of fixtures.

Match Day 6 encounters continue on Sunday with struggling giants Highlanders FC and Caps United’s headline clash at Barbourfields.
