Girl traumatised after witnessing father’s grisly murder

By Staff Reporter

A 15-year-old girl was left traumatised after she witnessed the vicious attack of her father, her only surviving parent at the time, in an incident that led to the 63-year-old’s death in a Bulawayo hospital nine days later.

Zama Dube was physically attacked by the suspect Nanzelela Ncube (28) on 2 February this year at his Hope Fountain home.

Ncube allegedly accused Dube of falling in love with his late brother’s wife.

After the brutal attack, Ncube reportedly fled the crime scene leaving Dube for dead.

Dube was later taken to Mpilo hospital where he succumbed to the injuries after being admitted to the government health institution’s intensive care unit.

Police opened a murder docket following the death of Dube on 11 February.

As a result of the incident, the juvenile, a pupil at Amhlophe High School in Bulawayo, was left so traumatised that she sometimes screams at night, according to her uncle.

She is yet to be professionally counselled.

Ncube was later apprehended by police at his grandmother’s home on Wednesday following a tip-off from members of the public.

Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the acting Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson, confirmed Ncube’s arrest for murder.
