Ngezi Platinum go top after triumph over Caps United

NGEZI Platinum has shot to the apex of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table following a 2-1 triumph over Caps United in a Match Day 5 fixture played at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
Lethal striker Obriel Chirinda got the first goal for the platinum miners in the 41st minute while Gomes Chirwa gifted Caps United the leveller through a headed own goal.
Ashley Karengesha then sealed Caps United ‘s fate through a bullet strike in the 71st minute.
In another Match Day 5 clash played at Gibbo Stadium on Sunday, Highlanders were held to a 1-1 draw by their hosts Triangle to dampen the once dominant side’s quest to reclaim lost glory.
In Saturday’s Match Day 5 round of fixtures, Dynamos fell 1-0 to Manica Diamonds in a match that was played at Sakubva with Charles Teguru netting the winner.
At Rufaro, skipper Walter Musona broke his goal duck for Scottland when he helped his side claim the scalp of Bikita Minerals.
The other goals came from Mthokozisi Msebe, who netted his second of the season while an own goal from the visitors’ defender Takunda Chanata seven minutes from time sealed the routing for the premiership newcomers.
MWOS beat ZPC Kariba 1-0 whilst Green Fuel were involved in another 1-0 triumph over Yadah.
Simba Bhora also posted a 1-0 victory over TelOne.
Elsewhere, Kwekwe United were involved in a 0-0 stalemate with FC Platinum while Chicken Inn followed suit with another goalless draw against Herentals College at Luveve.
Following Sunday ‘s Match Day 5 round of fixtures, Ngezi Platinum are top with 13 points while MWOS are number two on 11 .
Scottland and Manica Diamonds are joint third with 10 points each.
Former football powerhouses Dynamos and Highlanders lie joint tenth with 6 points each while Caps United are a distant 14th with just four points.
