DJ Ollah 7 walks free after cyber bullying claims withdrawn

By Staff Reporter

Podcaster Owen Madondo, better known as DJ Ollah 7, is now a free man after singer and businessman Mudiwa Hood withdrew cyber bullying charges against him.

His freedom was confirmed after prosecutors declined to prosecute in the matter.

Ollah 7 landed in the dock after he recently hosted controversial rapper Holy Ten, real name Mukudzei Chatsama who accused used the interview to make defamatory claims against several celebrities including comedian Mama Vee.

Mudiwa Hood said the claims caused him distress and humiliation.

However, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) determined that Madondo, as the podcast host, “lacked intent to harass or bully, as the statements were made by his guest during a live broadcast”.

“While the complainant expressed a wish not to pursue the matter further, the Prosecutor General has the final authority in deciding whether charges are withdrawn, in accordance with NPAZ Prosecutorial Guidelines.

“Victims of crime or complainants do not have the power to end criminal court processes. This decision rests with the Prosecutor General,” NPAZ said on Monday.
